Nice hydrating cream, absorbs well, doesn't feel greasy... but I still wonder, why Shiseido keep using alcohol (its "bad for skin" form)?
Alcohol is a volatile liquid frequently used in cosmetic formulation to formulate fresh, light, non-sticky textures and also sometimes for its antiseptic and astringent properties. It is sometimes essential to solubilize some active ingredients. Alcohol evaporates very quickly after application and due to its solvent (lipid-removing) property it could sometimes dry the skin. But this drying effect could perfectly be avoided or corrected by respecting certain formulation rules: first of all by using the right proportion and second by adding softening and super fatting agents to compensate this effect. Alcohol has been used safely for long time by cosmetic companies in the world and in addition, the one used in cosmetics is highly purified grade and it is very safe for skin. Shiseido’s priority is the safety of its consumers. With its long expertise in formulation, Shiseido is also renown to provide very sensorial textures and at the same time able to maintain a good lipid balance on the skin. Of course, all Shiseido products are submitted to rigorous dermatological tests to ensure their safety and efficacy.
